Welcome! Volunteers working on construction site

Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organization that seeks to eliminate substandard housing by making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller and is based on the concept of "partnership housing" (those in need of adequate shelter work side by side with volunteers to build simple, decent and affordable homes). Since its origin, Habitat International has built more than 300,000 homes around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities with simple, decent and affordable homes.

Habitat's philosophy is based on  the "theology of the hammer" which brings together people from all walks of life and gives them something they can work on in agreement together. It also builds bridges of understanding and positive change to those of all faiths.

Helena Area Habitat for Humanity (HAHFH), an affiliate of Habitat International since 1992, has built more than 28 homes, providing decent homes for 82 children in the Helena area.

The backbone of our program is a combination of volunteer efforts and charitable contributions. HAHFH welcomes all people to help build homes in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. Partnership families are selected based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay a no-interest loan.
